Two interpretation possibilities are offered by the magazine.: Either a over-motivated Web programmer a little too much put here in things, or Vodafone Germany is preparing behind the scenes for both new iPhone models: an iPhone 4 with 8 GB of memory otherwise based on current models, and in addition a iPhone 4S with the memory options of 16, 32 and 64 GB, both devices alternatively in white or black.
A GigaOM take on this story is also being reported by the New York Times.
Meanwhile, 9To5Mac reports that Inside the latest iTunes beta is specific mention of an “iPhone 4S,” along with an image of a CDMA iPhone 4.
Moving along, Gizmodo Brazil is reporting that a new, lower-priced made in Brazil iPhone is ready. According to their sources, new Brazilian Foxconn plant is manufacturing iPhones and has inventory basically ready to be delivered, including purportedly leaked photos to back up the claims.
The article notes, based on what I can discern from a Yahoo! Babelfish Portuguese to English machine translation, is that since the Brazilian Government announced that Foxconn would invest billions in Brazil, only “manufacturing iPads” had been specifically mentioned, but that in some interviews, the minister Aloízio Mercadante made it clear that the first Apple products to leave the the Foxconn fabrication facility in Jundiaí would be iPhones and iPods
The site reports that information they have now is that Foxconn Brazil output is currently 100% dedicated one to smartphones, although it seems production has been slightly delayed from it’s original startup target of July in order to coincide with the arrival of new iPhones, and their read now is that it will be an iPhone 4 variant with 8 GB memory. Like most of us, they’re unsure as to whether the new iPhone Apple will unveil tomorrow will be a completely remodeled iPhone 5 or an iPhone 4S, but are certain it will have an A5 CPU and an 8MP camera, and soon buyers will be able to find iPhone 4s with “Designed by Apple in California, Assembled in Brazil” in the store.
Whatever, it will all be much clearer tomorrow.

I really hope that no matter what they unveil tomorrow that it comes in a 64GB version.
In reality at 100+GB would be even better.
My iTunes library is over 150GB in size and growing. 32GB is puny and pointless.

More rumors are pointing to a 4S and not a 5, but I’m not losing hope. I want it to be a remodeled “5″ so bad.

The last line in the article is so appropriate. At this point, why do we even care about rumors and guesses? Tomorrow is hrs away. I’m done rumoring. Regardless of what’s released, I’m getting it. The big question is, will AT&T and Verizon reduce contract prices if Sprint comes online. I doubt I’ll ever leave AT&T anyway. I’m grandfathered with their old unlimited data plan.
Maybe I should go to bed now so tomorrow comes faster, lol.

What do you make of the wsj sprint rumor? Would they actually have the stones to do that to Verizon and AT&T?

However, from what I’ve seen Sprint has lower rate plans, and they’re coming onboard as the only carrier to offer unlimited data as of now so a lot of people will probably be switching and I might be one of them.
But I’ve changed my mind, I don’t care if it’s a 4S. I like the way the 4 looks and I haven’t had one, I only had the 3GS. So if it looks like the 4, that’s okay… Even though I would like the screen to jump to at least 3.8″.

Apple has kept everything secret for the past year. With only one day left, I doubt apple would let everything slip out. Apple is a company that likes to suprise its customers, this is why I’m sure that the 4S will be announced tomorrow, but I’m also sure that apple will have something else. When apple revealed the iPhone 4 last year, no one was suprised. I think this year will be the year where apple leaves us fans speachless.
When a company this big is being this quiet, there has to be more to the story. I will not give up hope for a redesigned iPhone 5 until Tim Cook walks off stage and the event is over.

Charles and Michael thanks alot for this blog, it’s the only one wich is enyoyable to read. It’s also the only one wich is frequently updated and it brings up all the stories. Well thanks alot for all of that, but.. It aint over yet, seems like this blog will get another year of great stories and commenting (android trolling) before jumping over to the iPhone6 newsblog domain name.

According to this article, http://www.foxnews.com/scitech/2011/10/03/sprint-scores-iphone-5-exclusive-thanks-to-20-billion-deal-with-apple/, Sprint will get a 4G iPhone 5 as an exclusive while Verizon and AT&T will get the 4S now and a 4G iPhone 5 in 2012. My first thought was WTH?! Is this a rumor or official because it’s on Fox news? Thoughts!!?

It feels like Christmas Eve when I was a child. No matter what the next new iphone is, I’m getting it. With a 3GS, even an iphone 4 will be new to me. Can’t wait to see what I will be getting. Thanks Michael for a great blog.

KatRu: It does kinda feel like Christmas eve. Hopefully apple gives us what we all wanted. If they only give us a 4S it will feel like that Christmas when your parents accidentally got you the same thing that they already gave you last year.
An iPhone 5 with a new design and bigger screen would be like the Ferrari of phones. If apple only gives us a 4S it will be like a Nissan GTR. The GTR is nice (wish I had one) but it’s no way near as good as a Ferrari 458 italia. I think the Samsung Galaxy S2 would be the Lexus LFA of phones. If apple doesn’t give us the Ferrari, that Lexus LFA will start to look really good next to the more “normal” GTR.
As you can tell I’m a car guy just as much as I’m a phone guy. Give me an iPhone 5 with a bigger screen and new design along with an Infiniti G37 coupe and I will be the most happy person on earth.

I heard Tim Cook was going to hold up a 5 at the end of the event tomorrow but he lost it in a bar somewhere so it’s just 4s for now. Anyway I just want ios5, I’ve only had my iphone4 about 5 months so I’ll probably wait till the end of the year to get an iphone5 if it happens, if we just get 4s tomorrow I’ll probably skip it.

I know The new iPhone will have icloud so u can sync w/o the need of a computer but i assume to transfer my music from my 3Gs to the 4s/5 you will need a computer?

Hey Mike! Thanks for the awesome blog, I’ve been reading it since day 1 probably 3 times a day!
Anyways, it’s quite unfair for Apple to release the iPhone 4s as for people like me, who are not gadget rich, can afford a device ever year, instead we keep our devices for 2-3 years. I own a 3gs and I will have to upgrade because my current idevice is so sluggish. It seems that when I’m ready to upgrade next time, Apple will release the iPhone 5s, instead of the iPhone 6, so i’ll never get the new generation when it comes out. I really hope Apple releases the iPhone 5 and not a 4s.

There is a new rumor that the 4S will launch on October 14th and it could cost as low as $99 for the 16gb model. I hope that pricing is true. I don’t think a minor spec bump to the 16 month old iPhone 4 is worth $200 but $99 wouldn’t be so bad.
I’m still holding out for a real iPhone 5 or a 4S that has a bigger screen.

2maro Timmy boy is going to put a iPhone 5 on his fishing pole and catch some 41% of the smartphone pool. Also right on stage his going to “Cook” up some of that special fanboy juice with his “assistant”. By then we’re going to b so high on Apples that r heads r going to b in the iClouds and then where going to come back to earth just in time to get smacked back to the heavens by iOS 5 baby , yes I love it , look I so excited I’m speaking Appleniese!!

Michael, this is my first post and id like to say thank you for the blog. And of course Charles as well.
I did want to run an idea by the others following here though.
What if apple was originally intending on a 4S for a summer release and when they realized that it would not be enough to satisfy their customers they switched gears for an actual iPhone 5? That being the main cause for the delay.

Justin Q, I saw that same article in 9to5 Mac. I think that is a HUGE bit of information and I honestly think it leads to the idea that the 4S is intact the mid-range model and we will be looking at a high end iPhone 5 along with it. Price point is not something that Apple needs to compete with as much of the talked about androids are in the $200-$300 range, just like the iPhone.

Friend of mine who works at one of german vodafones told me this “4S” appearing is all just fake. Apple made all of this rumour about 4S… he says the brand new iPhone 5 is coming!

As a portuguese speaker, I will include some comments to make it clear the Gizmodo Brazil article. They are saying that Foxconn installed a factory in Brazil and it was scheduled to start the production at July/2011. Everybody was thinking that would be only producted Ipads, but the Brazilian Minister of Communications said a few times that it would produce Iphones and Ipods as well.
The picture is showing a paper telling that 25 Iphones were repproved in the quality test, with stained lens. Another information is that the codename of the new Iphone 4 in the brazilian factory is N90.
They also telling that it makes perfect sense that they could be producing it here as well , because nowadays Brazil is the third biggest market in the world for mobile, with only a 5,8% market share of smartphones, and in this market share only 10% for iphones (because it is very expensive).
We will discover if this is true in four and half hours.
